HEADBOARD FIXING GUIDE

All you need to know about how to fit your new headboard to the wall, step by step.

Wall Mounted Headboard Fixing Guide

This is a quick and easy DIY job

Your Odd Company headboard is securely and neatly fitted using a split batten (French cleat) fixing system. This method ensures your headboard sits flush against the wall, with no visible fittings and can easily be removed if needed. Here a few quick tips before you get started:

  • Ensure the wall batten clears any skirting boards or dado rails.
  • For stud walls, fix directly into timber studs or use heavy-duty plasterboard fixings.
  • For masonry walls, use standard masonry plugs and screws.
  • Always check the batten is perfectly level before tightening screws fully.

What’s Included

                • Headboard with one half of the split batten already attached
                • Wall batten (the matching half)
                • Screws and wall plugs

What You’ll Need

                • Drill and a drill bit suitable for your wall type
                • Spirit level
                • Tape measure
                • Pencil

1. Choose Your Height

With your bed and mattress in position, hold the headboard against the wall to find your preferred height.
Make a light pencil mark at the top edge of the headboard.

2. Mark the Batten Position

Measure the distance between the top of the headboard and the top edge of the wall batten fixed on its back.
From your pencil mark on the wall, measure down by this distance and draw a straight, level line.
This line marks where the top edge of your wall batten will sit.

3. Fix the Wall Batten

Hold the wall batten along the line, with the angled edge facing upwards and outwards.
Use a spirit level to check it’s straight.
Mark your screw positions, drill the holes, insert suitable wall plugs, and secure the batten firmly with screws.

4. Mount the Headboard

Lift the headboard and lower it onto the wall batten so that the two halves interlock.
The headboard should drop into place and sit flush against the wall.
To remove it, simply lift the headboard upwards to release it from the fixing.
