Our bases come in two sections which lock together once on the bed. We make the bases in this way to ensure easy delivery to the bedroom. We supply the base with four blocks which screw into the underside of the base and prevent it from sliding off the bed. Take a look at our fitting guide for more infomation.

We can make made to measure bed bases to any length, width or depth. Our bed bases can also be made to a bespoke shape, which means we can make bed bases for continental antique beds such as Corbeille French beds with a curved foot end or for a four poster bed where the bed base includes cut out corners.

Please note, as all of our bed bases are made by hand, there may be a variance in size of up to 2cm (+ / -). If you need your bed base to be precisely the dimensions requested, please let us know when you place your order.

Each bed is handmade by us in Yorkshire. We offer Nationwide, free delivery. This bed base can be delivered within 20 working days.

You can choose between firm top and sprung top constructions, depending on your preferred feel. Each base can be customised to size, including options for antique bed frames, and is available in a range of depths depending on the specification.

We spent some time searching for a bed base that would fit our antique bed. Came across the odd bed company and low and behold they offer just what we wanted my wife wanted the striped look. It was made and delivered faster than anticipated. This was pleasing as its been matched with a rather expensive luxurious hand made mattress. Now every night we get a great night's sleep. The hard bed base I bought has transformed my antique sleigh bed from one which sagged horribly in the middle and caused back ache into one which is supportive and extremely comfortable. I had previously bought a very expensive mattress in the hope of achieving this, but only when I noticed that the mattress was way more comfortable on the floor than on the bed, did I realise I needed to ditch the sprung bed base and get a hard one. The bed base I ordered from The Odd Company is solidly constructed but much lighter and slimmer than the sprung one which also means lots more space under the bed for suitcases, cats etc. It is also covered in a lovely cream fabric which almost matches the cream upholstery on the bed. I would have preferred a hessian lining on the underneath, fixed with tacks, than the black plastic sacking material fixed with staples, but that seems to be standard on bed bases these days, even bespoke ones. If that was offered I probably would have paid a bit more for it, but it's a very minor gripe which I can fix myself:-). It took six weeks to arrive after ordering, which seemed like forever, but it was worth the wait, I'm still relishing the difference in comfort, and sleeping better.

Beautiful and beautifully made bed base. For the price would have preferred to see wooden stops supplied rather than the cheap plastic ones but you don’t see them so not hugely important. Excellent service and good quality materials. Feels very sturdy.

Was easy to order my bad base for a victorian bed stead. Chose traditional stripe fabric. It replaces a non sprung 30 yr old one Delivered in 14 days. Wrappings kept it safe. Is now on bed and wonderfully comfy. Would recommend.

Needed replacement base for antique four poster bed frame. Original base was from Heals who no longer do replacement bespoke frames. The material around the springs was disintegrating. Andrew was very helpful from the initial enquiry, explaining how to measure the bed frame. Replacement base made to the measurements given and it fits perfectly. All at a reasonable cost. Very satisfied with the whole purchase.

Visiting from overseas and returning home straight after the Easter long weekend I found myself in a predicament. I’d thrown out a vintage bed base, and realised at 3.45 on the Thursday I was stuck. Andrew at the Odd Company managed to find one in stock that would fit - lucky! These guys build bespoke! Offering to wait until I could get over from Batley to Halifax, I further compounded the issue as I’d sunk a few beers. Andrew said he’d call me back… Minutes later I was told that Bob would deliver to me on his way home. The bed base is perfect, very well made covered in beautiful fabric, and easy to install, with you only needing to screw in the four little rail guides - didn’t even need a drill! This kind of customer service is rare, certainly here in Australia where I’d have been told: Tuesday! Efforts made meant I had a bed for my remaining time in the UK, and the Odd Company has a returning customer for the rest of the beds when I come back! So happy, so impressed. Thank you very much!

The bed base is perfect. My bed isn't modern standard size and the frame has some big bolts that the base needs to accommodate. I discussed this with the craftsman when I placed my order and he recognised the set up immediately. The base fits perfectly. They supplied 4 little plastic blocks that I needed to site and screw in myself to make sure the base doesn't shift about. That done, the base is steady as a rock. I'm very happy with it.
