All the kids in the UK will be going back to school in a couple of weeks following their summer holidays but how can you fix the messed up sleeping schedules?

For the six weeks children have been off school, many parents may have let them stay up late one or two nights as a treat. And because they do not have to be up early for school the next day, some little youngsters have been sleeping in.

It is understandable that mums and dads across the country will be in anticipation for the kids going back to school and getting back into a strict sleep schedule.

It can be a nightmare and real struggle getting them to go to bed at a convenient hour when the week beforehand, they were allowed to stay up later. And the kid’s school work may be affected due to lack of sleep causing concentration difficulty, behavioural problems and irritability.

So how can you fix it and get back to normality? Here are some top tips from The Odd Mattress Company.

Reintroducing a normal sleep routine for children

  • – Have wind-down time before bed without electronics or games for children to settle.
  • – Take all electronics out of the bedroom so it is merely a place to sleep.
  • – Put the kids to bed and wake them up at the exact same time every day.
  • – Lots of bright light in the morning is a sure fire way to wake up any sleepy heads. Therefore lots of bright light at night is a no-no.

Putting your kids to sleep on one of our luxury mattresses is also a great way to ensure they drift off soundly ready for school!
