Britons some of the happiest people in the world – despite getting less sleep
A survey on well being across the world has found that people in Britain are some of the happiest in the world, despite working longer hours and getting less sleep than many of their European counterparts.
The research from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) found that only Americans, Australians, Canadian and Danish people were found to be happier, and this is despite the British having higher housing costs and working longer hours.
On average, Brits spends 10 hours a day on “personal care” activities such as sleeping and eating. In comparison people living in Denmark, which is the world’s most satisfied country according to the research, spend 16 hours a day on these personal care activities.
The health benefits of sleep have been demonstrated in numerous medical studies and Brits not getting very much sleep need to ensure that they sleep they do get is good quality to keep them refreshed and ready to take on the next day.
